About Me

Jean L. Jones, MMFT, LMFT

I am a licensed Marital and Family Therapist with over 11 years’ experience in providing counseling in the Middle Tennessee area.  I  founded HighPointe Counseling  in 2005 as a result of my desire to provide support and encouragement to those that by reason of profession, family name, community standing etc. find themselves in a high profile position that demand added discretion and  prudence when seeking individual counseling or assistance with family issues.

I have been employed as a Mental Health counselor and an In-take Assessment Specialist by a large psychiatric hospital serving Adult Psychiatric and Substance Abuse patients. I provided service to children at risk and families in crisis as an Intensive In-home Family Therapist.  I was a facilitator of “Power to Choose" a 12-step program sponsored by the Middle TN YMCA.  Recently I retired from the  position of a Utilization Manager with a large insurance company where I provided service as a Substance Abuse and Mental Health authorization specialist and a  consultant for Mental Health providers in Tennessee.

I am an active participant in church and community services and have contributed significantly by helping people for over 45 years. I served on the board of First Steps of Davidson county; a service that provides care for developmentally disabled children. Prior to entering the counseling profession I was employed as a licensed Medical Technologist for 38 yrs.  I am a graduate of the University of Tennessee Medical Units in Memphis; attended LIFE Bible College in Glendale CA where I studied Choral Directing and Voice; and attended Fashion Design School at Long Beach City College. I am a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University where I received a Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy. I earned my License as a MFT in TN in 2008 and was licensed as a Minister of the Gospel in 2011.

I was married 27 years and am now the proud mother of three adult children and grandmother to eight grandchildren.  I love to spend time with my family and especially be “Grammy” to my grandchildren. My home is a reflection of my love for reading, travel, sewing and decorating. I spend my leisure time outdoors gardening, entertaining friends or just sitting on the patio watching the squirrels play.

I offer a family or system centered therapeutic approach to counseling that is designed to meet your specific need as an individual as well as the collective needs of your family.  My scope of practice includes the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive, affective and behavioral problems and dysfunctions within the context of the marriage and the family system.  I am able to help you gain emotional stability in crisis situations. I will assist you to become empowered, so that you may appropriately engage in your life's challenges or those faced by your family.
